AP Calculus 12-19-11

Tonight's homework is on page 286/ 69-91 odds.

Here is the problem I worked out as an example in class. I fumbled around in 2nd period, not realizing I solved for F(x) correctly and only had to find F'(x) by find the derivative of the expression. A quicker way is shown on the left side using direct substitution and the derivative of what is being substituted.

AP Calculus 11-18-11

Here are the answers to the problems from the curve sketching section assigned from the book, page 208/ 7, 9, 17, 19, 23, 27, 33, 41. A few were absurd. Sorry. Mainly the last one. You won't see anything like that in the future. To plan ahead, I'm thinking a test over Chapter 3 the Tuesday after Thanksgiving break. We'll chat about it next week. Enjoy the weekend.

Try those problems I handed out in class. I didn't download the papers to the site. You'll have to wait until tomorrow for those that chose to miss class.

We discussed a possible group quiz on Friday covering related rates and position/function problems.

This could line up a test on Tuesday of next week. We'd take Monday to review. I'd give review sheets on Friday and be able to stay after Friday and Monday for help.

AP Calculus

Tonight, do some problems from 2.4/ 7-31 every 4th problem and 47-63 every 4th. That's a little taste of the chain rule incorporating the product and quotient rules along with trigonometric derivatives.

Also, plan on a partner/group quiz covering 2.1-4.

Wednesday/ Talk about HW problems, do a couple of problems like those from HW for a HW grade, and then learn.

Thursday/ Quiz over definitions of various derivatives from 2.2. and 2.3. Continue learning after.
